Individual Host Family Immersion Program in California
A once-in-a-lifetime English-learning opportunity
Spend the summer enjoying exciting California. Immerse yourself completely in the American culture by living with a volunteer host family in San Francisco.
This non-group, individual, total immersion experience means you will only speak English throughout your stay.
Our Immersion families truly embody the ‘homestay’ philosophy – sharing their lives with you and helping you to learn about their culture.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become immersed in America’s traditions & language, while at the same time forming lifelong friendships!
Program Summary
Location
You will be placed with a family living in one of a number of areas within the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
Dates
You can choose your own dates and length of travel between July 1st and August 15th.
Please note: No arrivals or departures between July 3rd and July 6th inclusive, due to USA national festivities. Return dates indicate the day of departure FROM the US. All flights from the US to Europe arrive back in Europe ONE day later due to the 9 hour time difference.
Student Age
Our Immersion program is ideally suited to teenagers aged between 15 and 18.

A perfect alternative to our Group Program
If you want to experience the American way of life, but prefer to organise your time independently, rather than being part of a group, this program is exactly right for you. Before you depart, you will be given contact details of your personal ECI representative who is on 24-hour standby for you.
Your ECI representative will contact you on arrival, and arrange to meet with you at least once during your stay and will call you at least once every week. He or she is always available to you as a source of support, should you need it.
